Morning all,

Woke up Saturday 22nd October to find my 110 stripped of doors and bonnet; the usual method of disabling alarm via removal of headlight etc.
Security has since been increased at home and when or if I get the car back (waiting for insurer to advise) I will go over the top on that too; although hopefully they won’t return - has anyone been targeted twice?
I have a series 1 that luckily wasn’t at home that night, are Series vehicles also being targeted or not? I’ve asked this on the Series 1 owners club forum and it doesn’t seem like they’re in demand with these criminal gangs but does anyone think otherwise? I’ve had Series 1’s and 2’s for the past few years as daily drivers and have parked them all over the country with no locks and no issues, am I just lucky or are they being ignored?
 
We use a handbrake lock on the other S1.
As you know there are no locks on the early doors.
Remove a lead so they can’t start it.

as for defenders, get light guards and security bolt these to the front to help slow down headlight removal.
 
It’s quite possible that those responsible for stealing parts from your defender will be back to see if you have had it repaired or got rid. Be vigilant to cars and people paying attention to it and ask your neighbours to do the same. Increase security on it. There are security hinges and other measures that you can take to prevent doors etc being easily taken. A decent tracking device is also a good investment, but don’t mention on here what you do get. Hicap Phil’s idea is a good one about the light guards too. Also invest in means of immobilising it, as they are stolen and stripped elsewhere. Consider CCTV and a good additional alarm, not relying on the easily-bypassed standard alarm.
As for series landies being taken, it does happen but doesn’t appear as prevalent. However, prevention is better than cure.
 
Thanks for the replies. If I do get the vehicle back it will be well armed, and as mentioned, I have increased security on the premises also. If thieves are committed and it happens once more, despite a whole host of new defences, I fear my Defender days may be over; losing no claims and paying excesses/ calling insurers on the hour every hour is too much hassle. Provided I can keep a few series vehicles on the go though everything else is bearable!
 
Get a ring floodlight camera, you will be made aware instantly on your phone if someone is snooping about around your property, the lights are very bright too and there is also an alarm button which sets off a 130db alarm when needed
 
Sadly though even if you did go out and confront the robbing tw””ts they would more than likely have a weapon and would use it in a desperate attempt not to get caught, knowing it’s going to be someone half asleep confronting them in there dressing gown, I’ve always thought a couple of German Shepards would be a great deterrent because you could just let them out the door and do there thing
