"Best" way to spend £10k

The L322 was a 'borrowed' company car at only just over 3 years old & there were no problems i encountered.
Both have their pros & cons.
The choice between an '02 P38 or '02 L322 is a no brainer for me though. :)
 
I always intended to get a L322 (begrudgingly as I prefer the p38) when my car gets too unreliable as an everyday motor, but looking at the L322s I get the feeling they are worse than a sorted p38. I may skip the L322 when the time comes and go for a L405 instead.

Touch wood I don't see a reason to change for a while yet - if my engine blows up I'll rebuild it with top-hat liners and carry on as the rest of the car is sound. As I've said before in every conventional way the L322 is a better car, better handling, steering, brakes - it just feels bland compared to a p38 (to me anyway) if you want to (try to) impress the neighbours then the L322 is the one all day long - but I don't give a stuff about things like that.

I was comparing the 99 (as my car's a 99) MOT pass rates - the P38 beats the (normal as it's listed in three guises) Land Cruiser when it comes to pass rates hands down - the SWB seems to do better - I dunno what that says about the cars but maybe the Toyota's aren't as bulletproof as you think! I know of a couple that have gone bang which were then scrapped as proposed repair costs were too high. I also know two other (petrol) P38 owners personally - like mine their P38s are soldering on without any major faults. Perhaps this says more about the "fix it" mentality of Land Rover owners rather than the reliability of the cars and old LCs are owned by pikeys who run 'em into the ground - dunno - but interesting none-the-less.

I'll never be able to afford a LC so I will never find out, but I believe it's down to maintenance. Toyota's are not as good these days as they used to be though:)
I still miss my ultra reliable Pajero:(
