Best place... Or cheapest :D to get new TD5 injectors

Whats wrong with your old ones?
Testing costs about £40 ea at Merlin Diesels
Exchange injectors are about £130 ea from Merlin
Id be wary of rebuilt ones for sale at less than £120-£130 as they can just be old ones cleaned up.

One failed and caused a melted piston, broken ring and damaged block. Got tested and was told were ok and was given a set of rebuilt black ones so no good so had to use the green ones.

On the completely rebuilt engine, one injector was detonating still and this time blew the headgasket. Just lucky piston is still ok I suppose.

Sending them back again to the place that did them and will be demanding a refund or something but was hoping to just get a new set and be done with it in the meantime.

I'll look into Merlin's :)

Actually priced them from the dealers today for the ****s and giggles and they were 265 euro plus vat so not bad at all really considering a stealer price!
I'll look into a few other places before pulling the trigger though :)
WOW! Thats a pretty amazing price! For brand new injectors (not exchange?), from a dealer!!!
United Diesels were the people who put me onto Merlin.
Im not affiliated with Merlin in any way, I just name drop them because the performed well!
If you buy recon ones make sure you get a test certificate with them.

PS Out of curiosity, I just checked with Marshalls LR main dealer, £ 193.00+ £50 exchange
OR £283.00 NEW but with a £250.00 surcharge!!!

yea, it's more than likely exchange but I've some old completely goosed ones spare too I could give them. Looking online and most places are about £200 anyway so I might be safest to just bite the bullet and get them from the local dealers as should have peace of mind being genuine LR and if there's any problems later, it's alot easier to dispute with them than some guy in his shed reconditioning them lol

Probably agree with you there.
Exchange ones from a reputable supplier should be fine.
The weak £/€ may help your pricing if you did source from the UK though!

Hi marko were any of your injectors dud when you sent them to merlin?

Cheers

Hi Discodevon!
Yes one failed testing. You get a nice printout of each injectors test, four passed.
Strangely the one that failed was No2 cyl, I expected No1 to be the culprit as No1 piston had started to melt, as discovered during the stripdown.
All five had been rebuilt as part of the work I did on the original stripdown, but shortly after starting up white heavy smoke appeared, that led me to conclude a bad injector, thats when I sent them to Merlin.
I dont know what caused the failure, it my have been rebuilt incorrectly, it could have been a piece of swarf hidden in the head after the machining work.
They have all done 18K miles since, with no problems.
