200/300tdi
All of them, you really should have known. Why is the 200/300tdi so good? Which of my exacting criteria does it meet?
ly
yer jokin - bout 15 to the gallon (worse than a v8) and quite fragile. also pretty rare and hard to get bits for. What about the six cylinder 2.5 petrol, any good?.
It is unfair to condemn a particular type of engine based on experience of a single unit, the 200Tdi is just about the most reliable engine LR ever built with the 300 a close second. The reason I say this is based on years of looking after and repairing them. The P gasket leaking killed too many 300's as did the timing belt running out of line.i had a 1990 200tdi disco it was oil + filter change every 3000 miles, head gasket went at 55000 miles and went again at 104000 miles, not good i say, i think 300tdi is far better.

Now the problems of both engines,(and complete cures) are well known there is no reason not to have either. All we need now is a decent alternative to Diesel to run them on.
Both engines are very rebuildable, reliable, fuel efficient and give good power,I currently run 2 of them and i'm in no hurry to change.
