Whats the benifit of having them??,as I've never had them on any car.

They last longer than rubber hoses, don't expand like rubber hoses and don't go spongey, retain heat/cool air better. And they look cool. :)

cheap mods are ................cheap mods.
buy some decent tyres and save your money for when repairs are needed.

Yeah, but you can get decent mods cheap if you wait and find them going at the right price or the right place. :)

yes but mods are not necessary, repairs are necessary.
as the mods are to be cheap i assume cash is not in abundance.

Yeah, I see your point and I do agree, I never buy cheap as I've learnt my lesson that way but you can still get bargains....for what I use my Freelander for, the mods I've done are necessary.....but I've also made sure I've got money for repairs. :)

tailgate window-guard ..

saw one today on a 5 door .. looks same / similar as the one on the 'van' type ..
must be possible to find one at a breakers yard ..

nice to have the rear window open in warm weather .. ( with a security barrier )
dunno about others .. but i don't seem to get much exhaust fumes ( diesel ) being drawn in ..
then again i've a tendency also to have the roof panels open .. and a side window .
breeze'lander :)

If you drive with the rear window open, you have to have front Windows or sunroof open to stop exhaust fumes going into the vehicle. :)

I bought a freelander 1 TD4 S model facelift 04 plate recently and have started doing a few minor mods
Bought a leather steering wheel (2nd hand) off eBay which had the radio controls attached. Simple job took 10 mins and £60
Also bought a 2nd hand centre console for £35 which had the rear power socket and ashtray. I just wanted the socket and ashtray so popped off the blank cover on mine and fitted the rear section of the other console. 5 minute job then sold the console again on eBay For a tenner!
Bought 2nd hand roof rails as mine didn't have them.
Also bought black & silver land rover badges for front and back off eBay, looks nicer on my dark grey freelander than the green and gold IMO anyway!
It already had nice side steps when I bought it.
I'm now waiting on delivery of new interior LED's for interior lights and boot light.

Next up will be to change the main and dipped beam bulbs and possibly LED bulbs for the rear end.
I'd thinking about getting bull bars and a couple of spot lamps too when funds allow.

I like the led strip lights I saw on here so may also have a go at those.

Question about covering holes in Slam panel... Who else has done this?? Also are there any pictures?

I saw someone mention inlet duct elbow removed. Can someone explain this? Why is it done?

Thanks!

Hiya, just found your thread. Purchased a shower cover last week have you any idea what the material it is made of. I ask because when I fitted it for the first time I had great problems with the cover corner Velcro, could not get it any more than a quarter of the way onto the body work Velcro strip, and the complete cover was as tight as a drum. Left it over night and we had rain, in the morning went out to look for any leaks, no leaks but the cover had gone very loose and had puddles in it where it had sagged, but this did allow me to fit the corner Velcro correctly. So when the cover dries out will it shrink back to being very tight and may be rip the cover or stay loose?
The window looks great did you make and fit it, or had it done by a professional company?

Regards

I rewired my rear lights so the stop/tail and indicators are high and fog and reverse are in the bumper. It seems to make more sense

How did you do that?

Problem with that is when the rear door is open, it obscures the right hand offside indicator & lights.

The FL2 tailgate is top hinged, so the lights can be higher. All cars with side hinged doors seem to have the lights under the rear door.
