Hi All,

Just doing a bit of searching around for some all terrain/all season tyres. I bought some BF Goodrich MT's on 16" wheels but the wheels didn't fit due to being Disco 1 wheels, so I got some 18" wheels and now looking to get some tyres fitted.
Does anyone have any recommedations for some all season/all terrain tyres? I wanted to get some general grabber AT2's or AT's but most places can't seem to get them, stating they're on back-order. Just spoke to a tyre centre near me and the guy advised me that I don't want the likes of General/BF Goodrich for the winter and tried to steer me in the direction of 'nankang sv2', stating these are winter tyres (road tread) and would perform much better than Generals/BF Goodrich's etc. due to temperatures and...yada yada yada. I don't know if anyone else would recommend his advice or let me know if the likes of General's/BF's are good for winter road usage/greenlaning purposes.
Any advice appreciated.

PS The Goodridge Wrangler ATs are pretty close. AT tyres are fine in the snow, not as good as a full winter tyre granted but you aren't going to get stuck. Toyo Open Country ATs work well in most conditions but are not quite as good road tyres as the General or Goodridge Wrangler AT.

I've got BFGoodrich AT's on all year round and have never had any problems, dry roads, snow or rain there just cope very well. You just have to be a bit careful on ice but that goes for any tyre. And as StuckAgainSteve says you wont get stuck unless you've been doing something really stupid or expecting too much.

Thanks for the advice. I've just gone ahead and got some sparkiling new General Grabber AT's. Went round Iceland in a Jeep Grand Cherokee a few months ago that was supplied with Grabber AT2's and was very impressed with them, so I guess, provisionally, they get my vote.
Delivered on Friday, fitted on Friday, tested on Friday.
