Hi all. It sounds like my Defender TD5 fuel pump needs replacing (very noisy), and although reading many posts regarding the downfall of using cheap pumps, I was wondering if anyone has used a Bearmach TD5 fuel pump. They seem to offer 3 year warranty so would hope are OK, but as it's a pig of a job, should I buy a Siemens/VDO, original Land Rover or will this Bearmach do the job for less than half the price. Thanks in advance for any help and guidance.

PS: I have tried the replacement fuel filter and also the air bleed valve, but still noisy as....

Cheap is cheap for a reason, can you emove the pump and fire it up to see why its noisy?

Forgive my ignorance, but if I removed and fired it up somehow (and not even sure how I'd do this if I'm honest), wouldn't it make a lot of noise anyway due to air being drawn in as I believe they make a similar noise due to air leaks in the system

I used a Bearmach fuel pump with no issues. On comparing it with the knackered oem pump it seemed pretty much identical and just as well made. I guess you pay your money and take your chance with these things.

Its an electric pump on them isn't it?

I have fitted a bearmach recently,no issues.
Luckily i had a guy cut me an inspection hatch in the floor of the tub, made it so much easier this time,& i had to buy a new locking ring the old one a bit battered.

I am looking to cut an inspection hole too. As as far as the locking ring is concerned, do you need to purchase the special tool, or is it possible to remove and refit without it?

My locking ring had been on & off a few time's so had took a bit of a battering the new one spun on easy,then a couple of tapson a long flat screwdriver.
The beauty of having the hatch is you can run it for a couple of days to make sure there's no diesel slurping out.
