14.2 is the maximum you will get on a 14.2 volt controller. However if the battery is a calcium one 14.4 would be better. From 1999 petrols had a 150 amp alternator fitted with a 14.5 volt controller. The diesels retained 14.2. You ideally need to be near that (13.9 is not shabby) at 2000 RPM with the headlamps turned on.
once past 2000rpm mine will come up to 14.0 14.1
and as I spend 99% of my time on the motorway it's usually past 2000rpm
