Hi all, thanks for reading & I hope you had a merry Christmas.

MOT time has come around & ive been advised of the only major concern being my rotten battery box.

I’m having trouble finding a garage as my usual place is shut down until the new year & other local places being in similar positions.

Does anyone know of somewhere/someone in the West Midlands who carries out welding or could repair this? I could really do without waiting a couple of weeks until the new year to get this sorted!

Thanks in advance,

James.

You could replace with aluminium panels in kit form with rivets supplied. No welding needed. Someone will give a link as i am on mobile. Google battery box defender panels and it will come up. Company begins with a y and ends in a m and heavily promoted by some on here;).

I have seen those and the exact company you’re referring to. The missing letter sounds like something a pirate says ;)

Are they easy enough to fit? Much prep work needed? Thanks!

I welded mine but i can weld so much cheaper. Battery box steel is riveted to the aluminium panels. Take out all the rivets and whole box will come off. Rivet in new panels. There are some bolts in there instead of rivets but maybe not on yours. Have a look and plan it before ordering.

Brilliant, thanks! I’ve found some video tutorials too so those should help.

They are relatively easy to fit, but like everything it will depend on how capable you are on the tools. In your later post you mention finding videos, are they on the YRM site itself? If not, they used to have a step by step tutorial to fit their battery box. I'd recommend some seam sealer between the joints when you pop rivet them.

It wasn’t a YRM video, it was on YouTube posted by “land rover toolbox videos”. I had hopes of it being straight forward, but this video shows removal of transmission tunnel cover and full seat box. I’ve had a nightmare day today! My trailer towing warning light has come on today & ive got no use of indicators...busy day tomorrow
