As the title, have some 16 inch alloys which the tyres are barely legal. I don't want to spend a great deal on tyres-so whats the most cost affective solution, either a wheel package or Try to pick up an ebay deal?
want something that will be either AT/MT and must not be total crap off road/ or noisy as hell on road

Im surprised uv asked such a question

I had a deal lined up for a set of modulars cheap, Little ****ed off that I arranged to collect and bloke had then decided to swap them- so I had no phone call and a wasted journey.

Basically I don't want to spend a great deal, speedo read wrong or chop the body to fit them.

I had half hoped that someone would have some for sale or suggest a good INTERNET deal.

I could just get a set of tyres off my mate, but the rims are crap anyway, locally everyone wants too much for a half ****ed set of wheels off a disco or range rover.

Oh on another note the roof rack is on and mine is back together

are you serious!!!

your wanting something that dont exist...
costs next to nothin is brilliant offroad but performs like a road biased on the road and aint noisy

get yr wallet out and dont be so tight..

Firstly, ring around and see how much tyre places near you will charge to fit tyres you take in to them.

In feb I got 4x Insa Turbo Traction Track from Paddocks for about £240 delivered, found a fella near us who charged us £10 a corner to fit as a one off so in all cost us £280 for 4 new tyres fitted.

So far they have done about 12,000 miles and still have LOADS of grip left and have been given a load of stick. Anyone that says remoulds are crap, fall apart, disintegrate, wear quickly, are talking out heir R's. Been on remoulds for years for normal roads cars too, as have some friends and none of us ever had a problem.

The traction Tracks we got are quite load on the road but if you go for the normal all terrains for the same price they should be quieter, but will still make noise.

We got:
235/70R16 Insa Turbo Traction Track Tyre Only

You could get:
235/70R16 Insa Turbo Ranger Tyre Only

I would just go and buy a tyre package, but the way my luck runs -someone always knows a cheaper option after you buy something
(plus there is recession/Christmas to consider)

What I'm really trying to decide is whether to buy a tyre package or stick some old crap on for the winter and hope to find a bargain, may go the paddocks route-cheap enough.
really I am looking to spend no more than £400

im thinkin bout investin in a set of wheels for me 90 in d near future, lookin for similar spec, i was lookin at paddocks insa dakar 265/75R16 for 66 a corner and was lookin at 16x7 8 spoke wheels on fleabay for bout 35 each roughly, think dakar are same tread pattern as bfg mt too? so cant be so bad.. can they?

wrong forum gramps, try your OTHER forum ;)

Dont honestly know Nath they were on my old 90 when I bought it. But they deteriorated pretty quickly and Bronco did not want to know.

Personally I would rather spend the money on say a set of BFG's and then when 1/2 worn, sell them on and buy new. part worn BF's still command fair money and you get a hell of a lot more miles out of them than remoulds. Just my thoughts ;)

265/75/16 special tracks on powder coated modular rims, so far as currently still tinkering with it I drove high first down a track and unstoppable, with company and diff lock low would be unbelievable

I thought you said you wanted summit that weren't noisey on the road?:p:p:p

Did you get em new or secondhand?

Had them new come the end, nice finish too-I couldn't decide what to do.
Someone I know had cheap set of the internet and they were rubbish quality rims.
Bought from someone honest I know.
So I decided muds for now and keeping the alloys I had on it as I can always put them on if need be.
Also the 205 tyres on ebay go for bugger all.

What I didn't want is buy some tyres and be disappointed, also the alloys would need spacers.
noise wise-not too bad

Truly amazed how they ****ed down the lane, had it not been I was on my own and didn't want to look a cock by getting stuck difflock low must be unbelievable.

The only thing that's stopped mine so far was that ditch. I still had enough grip to get right over to the left though so tigger could get past me to pull me out.:p
