Also anyone got any suggestions on where to fit a Blue Sea aux fuse box?

Second battery will be going on a custom tray by the bulkhead/ABS modulator.

I was thinking glove box, under the seats?

Any suggestions for a good tucked away spot for the ECU?

I will be doing the same once I've got my disco up and running.
Depending on the size of the battery could it fit on the battery tray? Should be enough room near the horn I would have thought.
Are you making your own tray or buying one

Thats a fair point. Could fit a fuse box with the aux battery.

Be making make own, weve got a laser cutter, CNC pressbrake and a lot of off cuts at work so easy enough to make one to suit exactly what I want.

On my 110 the fuse box was under the cubby box, easy route for main power and easy to run cables into the dash.

On mine there's a blank grommet right next to the main wiring loom where it passes through the bulkhead on the passenger side. If you wanted to mount your fuse box internally this would be an easy way to route your wires. It's not so easy to get at normally as the bulkhead soundproofing covers it up.

Its begun!

Looks like alot but mostly oil (S&A 5w30 Fully Synthetic, Straight EP90, Swepco 712 for the gearbox), Gunk degreaser for the undercarriage, new weather strips for the doors, gas struts for the bonnet, Meyle ARB HD extended drop links and some paint from buzzweld!

First job was getting rid of the awful 90s era veneer effect & red stitch gaiters

Easy enough to pull up! Buzzwelds Gloss PIO and some Resin+ lacquer will solve that!

Currently drying, pics tomorrow :D

Gaiters replaced with JFCustoms white stitch leather, nice XS feel

ARB Bullbars coming off, being replaced with a TP4x4 winch bumper with some mods. Main one being a sleek A Nar similar to this

Got all the tools at work so why buy one? :D

Will all be finished in Buzzwelds 2K FXLiner, the paint more than proved itself on the 110. Makes powdercoat look like wet toilet roll!

Then lots of boring jobs like sorting out the awful wiring, sticker residue removal and sorting out the previous owners love for hammerite :mad: not much just the rear door jambs, bits of the roof and parts of the windscreen surround...

If anyone wants dibs the tyres will be up for sale soon, x5 near new Cooper Pros 265/75/16 covered all of 400miles since new!

Not many pics, didnt actually get a whole lot done on the D2 today.

Interior trim is lacquered, doesnt look great in the pics as its still wet but its lovely. Just needs cutting tomorrow to give the perfect finish.

Found more hammerite covered by carbon tape on the roof/windscreen seal

Cleaned it all off, buzzweld RE, basecoat then Resin+ Lacquer. Will cut and blend tomorrow, looks decent so far, 10x. Etter than it was!

Also fitted Empires new intercooler. Really impressed! MUCH lighter than the Serck I took out and a fair bit larger too. Cant say it was as simple to do a D2 cooler as a Defender though!

Coated black, welded ali end tanks, not cast, with individual serial numbers.

Also fitted a nice big auxiliary horn, £12 and VERY loud :p:D

Im thinking move the ECU under the drivers seat, raised up slightly, not perfect but better than the engine bay. Was always fine in my 110.

Then move the ARB Compressor to the original ECU location with a quick connect in the grille!

Did a full fluid and filter change today. Hit and miss.

Previous garage over tightened every bolt and every filter. Rotor filter only had one nut

Engine oil looked ok

Front diff oil not great. Very metallic, a few bits of diff and a big metal christmas tree

Rear diff oil was milky as well.

GB and TX where clean, no swarf.

Diffs/TX box had proper Smith and Allan EP90.

Gearbox Swepco 712, certainly made it smoother.

5w30 fully sythn for the engine + genuine filters.

TP4x4 bumper arrived. Not exactly happy with how thin it is, so went out reinforcing it!

My D44 bumper on the 110 was much higher quality, 8mm thick with 6mm gussets and only slightly more expensive. That said it was 4 years ago... steel is pricey now.

Some 4mm gussets and 6mm flat bar. Should be enough! Welds arnt fantastic but at least they are strong.

Gywn Lewis didnt deliver my recovery eyes dispite being ordered almost 2 weeks ago  so couldnt paint the bumper :mad:

Also bled the brakes/clutch. Feels much better now! And resealed the top windscreen seal.

Insurance is sorted too, so few more hours next week painting and welding snd shes ready to go!

Will try and fit the extended breathers next week too.

Gywn Lewis recovery eyes arrived! Marked out and welded in.

Double and triple pass welds to ensure strength lined up with the winch tray so nice and solid.

Did a nice weld on the outside :) much better than swivel eyes!

All bare steel got coated in Buzzwelds RE then finished in a custom textured mix of 2k FXLiner. 3 full coats. Was rock solid on the 110, so should last well on the D2.

LED fogs have been ordered, should arrive soon.

Should be able to start work on the A Bar I want to design as well!

Discos back home and being driven daily. Feels good being back in a landy, nice driving position.

Typialy the Chinese headunit has given up, or I just cant use it. I was going to replace it anyway, so got a nice Sony one that matches my GT86. Keeps things simple for me!

I think I will go for a LOF powerslave and the Pioneer clutch pipe. Clutch is fairly light but in heavy traffic it would get tiresome! For £30 its worth it.

I've got a LOF powerslave for mine, it's been sat in the shed for 2 years - you'll know why when you come to bleed a Disco 2 clutch :D

Why so? Put mew fluid in the brakes and clutch, took all of an hour at most!

Mostly want one as the copper line runs on top of the bellhousing, stupid route imo. Looks like it could easily rub through and leave me stranded.
