LOL think you can guess how I found it out right ? ;)

Option one light repeats the front light etc - just run feeds from the bulb connectors, same same, you can still use a TD5 lamp housing just the switch will be redundant as you will wire direct to pins, 2 wires only.

Option two (aka the 'johnny crimpset + the scotchclips" verison:p ) wire up via fuse straight to permanent live as a stand alone light.

The alarm ECU (BCU) detects a door is open and tells the ECU to grant an earth path for the light)

or to be more specific......

To determine when to provide an interior courtesy lamps enable output, the BCU checks the following input conditions:
A Ignition state.
B Driver’s door open.
C Passenger or rear door open.
The courtesy lamps operate at full brightness when they are first switched on. The BCU then gradually dims the lamps(fade-out) before completely switching them off.
Fade-out occurs over a period of two seconds following the logical control signal to turn off the lights.
When a door is opened, the BCU provides earth paths from the interior lamps.

The following table lists the courtesy lamps operation and duration for holding the lamps on that occurs after the BCU has detected a condition that signals the courtesy lamps should be switched on:

Control signal Additional conditions Duration
Door open - 10 minutes
Unlock signal from remote transmitter All doors closed and ignition switch not in position III - 1 minute
OR
Unlock signal from the driver’s door lock All doors closed and ignition switch not in position III - 1 minute

Ignition switch turned from position II or III to position 0 - All doors closed - 1 minute

Door changed from open to closed All other doors closed and ignition switch not in position III - 15 seconds them dim out.

Ignition switch in position III - Timer cancelled
OR
BCU receives a lock command - Timer cancelled

'Banks-Bait' ;-):p:p:p

Thinking of fitting ( above) something similar soon, will keep you posted I know you like this sort of thing, hope you dont mid a few pics n links on yer thread!

Also just researching an OBD live reader display for the dash, provides all the sensor blocks info live as you drive, you can get one that pops it all on yer phone / ipad which might be an option, but prefer a dedicated small display etc see pics you get the idea! (if you have display with reversing cam could be made to go straight into that.....

Quite cool! I went for a basic votlage output one

I doubt that OBD system will work as the TD5 isnt fully OBDII compatible! TD5inside do an "infodash" which does exactly that, roughly £200 though!

know wot you mean, but you do get some live data coolant temp, inlet temp etc. worth a go for a few yen!

Colour me excited! 70% lighter pedal? Yes please!

With any luck its no where near the price of a red booster....
Or the total nightmare of fitting and setting up! sounds too good to be true but like yourself im in!
PS re the clutch thing on the other thread, are you fitting the LOF yourself?
I have got to do myne sooner or later so be good to chat...

Just thought, not sure if you remember me saying about the Delphi Diag I have? (think its on me thread) it really does do everything for the defender you have two options via OBD or via its own diag interrogation, of course the latter reads all the data banks and does the ECU stuff, but via the OBD i still get a large amount of live data, happy to give you a demo if we ever get the time!

Yes. Got a LUK DMF, Extreme Spec kevlar clutch + extreme spec release bearing + a few other bits.

Apparently its going to be sub £200!

Hit and miss day today. Tried to get the Boomslang loom fitted which didnt go well... I'll come back to that another day.

I did run a new earth from the bulkhead earth point behind the expansion bottle direct back to the battery which should help things.

Finally found out why I lost headlights the other day! One of the connectors had come loose and was barely touching the high beam stalk. Refitted so shouldnt happen again!

We had a bit of that here on the South coast, it was pizzing rain yesterday eve on the way home and this morning the roads were lethal even though they were salted

How is your heater helper? Nice an cozy in there now?

Bit of a **** day.

All down to one asshat in an IQ that thinks hes driving a bus. Decided to slam on the brakes down a wide country lane.

Caused the guy in front of me to brake hard and swerve, i was already braking attempted to steer out of the way and off course hit ice, slid and wrote of a golf.

Ill add more info once the claims settled.

Not a scratch on the 110 though.
