Series 3 Ballasted or unballasted coil?

Hey all,

I need a new coil and was thinking of fitting an Accuspark high output coil. I fitted one on my Spitfire and it seems happy with it.

I’ve forgotten all the malarkey about internal and external ballast resistors. The accuspark coils come in ballasted and unballasted. Which one do I fit?

Is there an external ballast resistor somewhere in the 2.25 petrol setup?

As standard, the 2.25 setup doesn't have a ballast resistor. You could add one if you have the necessary extra contact on the starter solenoid, but I doubt it's worth the hassle - the standard system works well enough most of the time...

As above no ballast resistor on 2.25.
