Badly leaking fuel tank

Cleaned a bit with wire brush first then some water on soap to soften it a bit first then just rubbed on over the sore bit for couple of minutes. Have to say was a bit sceptical of the wife when she told me.

dont think it would of sorted mine tho, it were rotted between the guard and the tank

stupid design really, with no holes to let the water out,

My old 110 V8 rusted between the tank and the guard anorl. It was a right sod to get the 2 peices seperated.

think they all go there eventually, i just cut round mine with me air grinder, not like yer gona use it again? if it were ok i could o done something with it, plated it sr something, but that were too far gone! new one were £75, so not too bad

Definitely not, I've never taken that bit off (Series, I no nuffin about these newfangled fings with twisted wire instead of proper springs)

Dopey - Where did you get the stainless tank from and how much if you don't mind be asking?

A m8 of mine made it, he made 4 of them and sold me one for cost, one of the best add-ons i got, shame you cant buy them though, and this is an exact copy, if you painted it black you wouldn't know the difference

2 things
for the tank you can get some stuff called por 15 to fix the holes in the tank, never used it, so im not gona recommend it, but most say it works fine

the other thing is springs

careful what you buy now on the market, a lot of the newer stuff is crap (from a good year and 1/2 back, till now, the springs don't seem to fit well and they flatten out to nothing, your better off striping them and getting the crud out, oiling them and, some put a wrap around them, the stuff is like a tar in Hessian?? they will never pick up dirt ten!!

Don't think this will help on your tank but for those with a small leak,take fibreglass resin and cover the hole and surrounding area!

I took the plunge and ordered a new tank from Paddocks.... so will have to try and get the drain plug undone on the old one (about 4L of fuel remaining) and do the swap over Easter !!
