The Government have announced they are to change the rules on checking for the existence of a DPF if the vehicle left the factory with one fitted.

To take effect from February 2014.

Just what I was thinking , FL 2 later models , this device has allowed lower road tax , but is high maintenance

It's already hard if not impossible to remove the EGR valve on more modern diesels as it flags a MIL event. Normally the P code translates to "Insufficient Exhaust Gas Recirculation". Luckily the Freelander 1 was type approved before that little bit of legislation came in.
