Ive just got my timing belt done (which was just about to go looking at the old belt)
But i seem to have lost my low down torque/power?? When i put my foot down before it would pull off quite quick, now theres just nothing there.
Its also become alot more tappy, like the valve clearances need doing (i did them a few months ago)

I havnt checked my valve clearences yet but why would the timing belt effect this if it was running perfectly beforehand.

Sounds like the timing has moved whilst you were changing the belt ,I'd check it asap as you could damage the valves etc if they get in contact with the pistons ,go back to basics timing and start again from scratch

I had it done at a specialist, i dont know what im doing with timing  he mentioned before i left that the valve clearences needed doing, i thought it was abit odd as i had done them and it sounded fine.
Definitely doesnt sound like it used to now.

Ffs:(

I'd have it back to them then and show it's not running right.if you've paid them to do the job it should be right first time and it's their responsibility to make it so.Dont be fobbed off, you've paid good money and it needs putting right

If its tappy on idle that will be the timing to far advanced.

But lack of power sounds like its retarded.

Always worth quickly checking the valve clearances just in case something went wrong when they did the belt!

Im going to check them tomorow morning, raining at the min.
I dont see how the clearences could change though
They can have it back if its not that.

Check that intercooler pipes have not been disturbed or leaking, just a chance it may be not be getting boost pressure from turbo. And intercooler not holed and leaking.

Just checked the valve clearances and theyre still fine, and the intercooler pipes are all tight too.

Bloody brilliant this is.

Leave it alone and take it back.
It is not right and they need to fix it properly but you need to give them a chance to do this but tell them it was fine before but rubbish now.

Ill be taking it back monday, its borderline dangerous how slow it pulls off now.

Good luck getting it sorted,if they're a proper firm theyll check it ,see it's obviously not right and just correct it asap p with no charge to you.Whatever you do don't say youvyo touched anything or they Mya try say you've done something wrong and charge you again. You must test drive it after it's done and don't accept it back unless it's spot on.Give it what for when you do drive and in all driving conditions eg fast bits slow traffic stopping starting so on.

That why I said in case THEY did something wrong when doing the belt, I was thinking bent pushrods hence the extra clearances.
If you dont want to take it apart off with the oil filler cap and turn the motor by hand until the rocker has play, if its seems ok then no worries but if ifs like a prick in a bucket?
You can also pop off the little round cover on the front of the timing chest (held on with 3 screws) and again turn the engine by hand and you want to see the injector pump pulley move smoothly as you turn the engine by hand, if if seems to jerk or jump dont drive it.

With the flywheel notch lined up, the fuel pump timing was slightly off,
Adjusted so the pin fits and all good again now.

That's great to hear glad it's sorted , I wouldn't be impressed by the so called specialists though and would want some money back,They could have ****ed your engine like that and then where would you be?

Have you got a before and after photo to show on here.

The pic above shows how they had it set, slightly off so a 9.5mm pin doesnt fit (maybe they used a smaller dia pin?)

I have just adjusted so the pin fits with the notch in the flywheel lined up.

Next time, might be easier, quicker and cheaper to -DIY. :D

Yes, i wont be bothering with garages again tbh.
