Help;
Can anyone please tell me if when fitting new axel straps to the rear of a 2a long wheel base, whether the axel strap should be tight to the axel (pulling it up) or if there should be a gap between the axel and the strap.

I have ordered two new straps and when I line the strap up with the holes in the chassis, and so as the axel strap just rubs on the bottom of the axel it ends up being about 3” to short from the other fixing holes.

I have phoned up the company I ordered the straps from and they measured the ones in their stock and ensured me that I have got the correct strap as the SWB ones are shorter then the ones i have.

Can anyone please tell me how long the strap should be or if the strap should be a tight fit to the axel.
Thanks for the help.

If it's tight against the axle you'll have no articulation & I'd reckon theyd snap or pull off of their mountings as soon as you encounter any bumpy stuff!

Nah, can't see it's right!

Not an expert on straps but I was steaming mine off yesterday and my straps were taught.
Take that as you will:confused:

Thanks for the help,

I managed to fit them yesterday by tacking a diffrent route the old ones took and they are just touching the axel, so there is some movement.
