hi all got 02 td4 wife just got back in said she heard a noise like a stick jammed under it had a look nothing went done drive found a bit of bet which had shreaded off its about 10inches long4mm wide checked belt and yes it was mine lol now why as it done that and is it easey to change this belt many thanks

Donno about you but everytime my missus uses my landy she breaks summit else. I don't know how difficult it is on a TD4. From what I can remmember the L series is a sod to do.

Do you mean:-
The large belt that drives the water pump, power steering pump, alternator OR the other belt that drives the air con pump?
The large drive belt doesn't seem to be too bad to change. Bottom engine undertray off, remove o/s front plastic wing protector panel (lower), you will then see the pulleys and belt.
Pull back the tensioner pulley with a spanner and HOLD it away from the belt. Remove belt. Then you can get to the other belt that drives the air con pump. This too has a tensioner. Need to slacken with spanners here as in old fashioned fan belt style. Fit new belt. Tension up,
Refitting large belt is as they say - the reverse of removal. Locate it around all the pulleys etc then SLOWLY release tensioner pulley so it contacts belt. Don't let the pulley twang back onto the new belt!

The auxiliary drive belt is the smaller and drives the aircon compressor. If this has shredded it needs to be removed quickly as it can cause damage to the crankshaft oil seal if it gets behind the crankshaft pulley, easiest way is cut off with pliers/hacksaw. You will now have no aircon of course but the engine will operate normally. order both main and auxiliary belts. Download 'RAVE' manual via 'GREENOVAL' wsite for fitting instructions. before fitting check condition of tensioners etc for any problems which may have caused belt shredding in the first place. hi all this as no air con on it is the one that drives power steering and so on but why would it a shreaded a bit off of it.i have noticed like a slight whooshing sound coming the the pulley at the bottom and when you put wd40 on it it goes for a bit

Tensioner bolt size to release the tension is 24mm
Sounds as if crank pulley needs replacing and whilst its all apart might be worth replacing tensioner and idler pulleys
