ran the old box into the ground then replaced with a second hand unit

as long as its 300 tdi and not v8 and if yours is edc you need to swap bell housing if the one you get isnt off a edc 300
Just did mine as part of a service, but it does make quite a difference. If your oil is old it's viscosity will be greatly reduced, hence the pressure in the clutch packs will not be what it should be. This could be part of your problem. It's also a reasonably cheap way to find out if your box is actually knackered.jDid it stop the slipping into gear

Yeah that's the TDI one
300 tdi one is all you need to ask for ,if bell housing needed use yours
