hi my v8 auto disco started slipping on the way to work today, checked oil just slightly over filled shouldnt be a problem doesnt smell of burning, got worse now lost nearly all drive have to rev the bollocks of it to just about get movin works fine in reverse though, been looking an seen somthin about the oil feed pump how can i check that this is working
any help much appreciated

Check the pump pressure with a gauge.

You can check the oil pump is working by removing the cooler pipes and popping the ends in a bucket and running the engine.....this will drive the pump and rapidly fill the bucket with ATF. WARNING, it can get messy!

To be honest it sounds like a failing 'A' clutch to me.

Thanks for the quick replys will check later on if it does turn out to be the clutchs think she wil be going on ebay. Any1 after a v8 xs ha £900

it sounded like burnt clutch to me. 2 years ago, my auto started losing reverse gradually to a point no reverse is available. Found out that the clutch plates gone. Replaced with re-con autobox.

I do have an auto box off a V8 available (off a classic with 90k miles), with a choice of borg warner or a LT230 transfer box off a 97 disco. Pm me if you are interested.
