Auto gear knob and trim removal

hi everyone, 2002 auto Freelander gaiter replacement.
After removing the gear knob on an auto box do i need to remove the selector display before removing the plastic trim surround? It looks as if it has been put on after the plastic trim surround.

I take it that the plastic trim will just inclip with some gentle prizing.

The gaiter should come out using a flat tool to open the plastic trim up, shouldn't need to remove the display.
