Hi Rob, the de-EGR and De-Cat mods will only improve the mot smoke tests so no worries there.

Re EGR-removal, not sure what your question is but I'm guessing it's something to do with electricals? The answer is unplug the EGR plug and set aside, block the vacuum pipes with anything suitable. Some kits come with little plugs, I used self tappers. No need to speak to the ECU.
