Hi Hippo
No it slowly started getting worse, especially when it was cold.
We were in the process of getting a new car,so I part exed it.
As it seemed to play up most for a few miles after changing or draining and filling the box then settle down for a while I was begining to think it was bits in the oil stopping the solenoids fully shutting so I filtered the oil through a paper coffee filter to see if there was anything in it.
There were nothing obvious, but a few very small white bits smaller than a pin head that were very soft like bits of silicon sealant. Whether these could jam in the solenoid, but being soft, then get squeezed out so it would eventually work again I don't know. I also took one of the solenoids I had remove apart, but could only get the coil bit out, not the moving parts but it looked like it had some of these bits in it (hard to tell as they are so small and soft) so I wonder if they are bits of the insulation or seals in the solenoids that are breaking up. I still have the two I took out if you want them.
But for the first time in 30 + years I no longer own a Landrover.
