Thanks for that - looks like I'm going to investigate unplugging the sat-nav drive and then check for any sign of the old telephone interface. There was one at a time.

Ultimately I think that replacing both units with an aftermarket unit with a 6.1" screen should allow me to get Satnav, and audio back whilst looking as if it belongs. Min problem is finding one without a CD drive to keep it shallow enough to fit.

Wipers oiff, plastic trim under the windscreen off, you will seel the metalwork that the pollen filters go into, there is a seal where this bolts to the bulkhead, on mine the seal had been badly fitted presumably from new, I re-fitted with silicone sealant.
Otherwise check the door seal as Druim said.

Thanks Keith. Will check that, next time I am in that area of the car!

Are you sure that all of the other large speakers are working in the other doors.?
I've come across a stereo set-up before where the main speakers were driven by an amp but the high range speakers were driven directly by the head unit.

Thanks, yep. The other 3 are working fine.

Thanks hun, the speaker works fine. I plugged it to the upper speak wire, and it worked ok. I plugged the upper speaker onto the lower loom and got the same crackle affect.

Do the four speaker wires become two before they leave the door? In which case you should have a frequency cross-over at the joint, perhaps as simple as a capacitor, that has failed.

Good question, I think they do not join earlier in the loom. If they did, that would be good news, as I could tap the lower speaker off the top one which works). :) Will check over the weekend......
