Would one of you kind souls out there have the heart to explain to me why one of my headlights get 12.33 volts and works and the other gets 11.57 and is dead? both bulbs work and both lights worked this morning...

sounds like an earthing fault try cleaning the earth points cos as all good land rovers they do like to rust as mine is no exception

The earth for each light is bolted to the inner wing, unbolt it and give the surface a light sand to get rid of any corrosion on the surface and see if it makes a difference. *fingers crossed* :)

Try doing a volt drop test it's brill for finding high resistances in wiring..
Switch the item to be tested on, for testing +, place one lead from your multimeter on + on your battery and the other lead to live wire at your connector. if you get a reading of above 0.3volts you have a high resistance in that circuit. Do the same for the earth, swopping over to the - terminal on the battery and earth on conector and if reading above 0.2volts then a resistance is on that circuit... the consumer must be connected and switched on for these checks to work.. hope this help steve.

so earths are all good cleaned and tested and still no light. regarding the resistance test in post above, why would there suddenly be high resistance in the wiring when it was all working before?

if a cable has rubbed through it can happen at any time mate. and more often than not when you leave the truck all is well then when you get back in you notice the fault.

i have had similar probs with my 90 i even updated my lights....in the end i just renewed live n earth prioblem solved......long way round but hay watever it takes.

it only takes one strand of wire to give you voltage but when the circuit is under load then it disapears..

Sounds to me like the dim dip relay has packed up to me. Unplug it (black box with fins behind the dash panel (speedo counsole). Also where are you taking this reading from( accross the two terminals? If so check voltage between +ve and engine block(clean bit) and +ve cable and neg terminal of battery and post figures back along with previouslyy suggested reAdings as well
