I went down the veg oil route started off with just just a little bit pertank of pump deisel. increased up to 4 /5 gallons a tank so 60/40 mix my fuel injector pump seized and wouldnt send any fuel on boost. after chatting beleived it was probably the veg oil to blame !!

after the 1000 bill its not worth the bother ! im not the only person i know that has

running fine out on mitsy challenger & 110 ... plus lots of others that will back up that theres nothing wrong with the stuff.

Suspect there must have been something up with your pump in the first place.

Totally agree!!

no way just adding oil to diesel would cause your pump to lock up!!

400 miles a week without a drop of diesel - not a single problem to report!!!

poss the in tank pump - but no way damage the FIP - pop a seal maybe?? that'd be all

There isn't an 'in-tank' lift pump like on the P 38's, 300tdi has a mechanical lift pump on the side of the engine.

By the way, Johnny, do you use fresh veg oil or used? And didn't you just have to change the seals and rebuild your FIP?

One of our local Tesco stores, a bit ethnic orientated shall we say (known locally as the souk) sells 15 litre drums of veg oil at £14.95.

Mind you you've got to hunt to find a beefburger or pork sausage.

I use fresh Veg oil at the min as my man that delivers me used oil has moved :-( Plus it's easy to just call in Costco pick 3 up on Friday on the way home from work.

yes, I recently had to replace the seals in the FIP - however, this was leaking when I purchased the car, but gradually got worse so eventually got around to changing it - not a hard job, no one should fear this job!! I posted up just how quick and simple it is pictures all the way!! Now - I will admit the seal was leaking already and when it came out (10+ years old) was rock hard and my 400+ miles a week probably didn't help. I do not believe for 1 min this was down to the Veg oil or Bio I had been using!

Having run a Peugeot on Bio for year before same millage, but on a Peugeot you have to change a few rubber bits as they will perish (damn Peugeot)

Now then ye olde freelander had its MOT today and the emissions were 0.23 where as last year they were 0.42, same MOT station, now im sure there are alot of variables that can be argued as to why its gone down but ive been running Veg Oil for a couple of months before this MOT and was on pump diesel only last year :)

We only use waste oil, as we have a reasonably good supply at the mo.
We're currently having the same problem with the FIP on his P38, it was on the way when he got it and has since added another 50/60k onto it, I don't think the veg oil isn't the sole reason for it degrading, but I don't think it's helped
I did see the thread that was why I asked, and I do beleive he'll be using it when the time comes to change the seals.

Ahh ok

Well I posted it up as finding information on the pump was proving hard! and seems very few people go any deeper into the pump than the Temp sensor (top seal) but honestly - it isn't hard and if you mark everything off before you dismantle it you shouldn't have any issues putting it back together - just practice getting the ball in the cup though lol

The seal on mine was rock solid and think age and general wear and tear was the culprit not Veg oil! As stated mine was leaking for the day I bought my Range Rover, and I bought it off the guy that bought it new, with full Land Rover Service history and it had only ever been run on pump diesel before my ownership.
