For Arkansas it’s real Damn cold like single digits after work into evening. You know when I can work on me car and the wife laughed in my face when I asked her if I could use the garage. In my face! I have blie.coveralls with blue fur around the neck that I wear when she gets like that Incase any of the neighbors walk by she’s super embarrassed. It’s great. And warm.

You got a fookin heat wave then.

Bit of a heat wave yes sir, which means I can’t wear my blue furry necked onesie to “neck” up the neighborhood so I set up the wooden person shaped target and let my son throw knives at it. Child rearing 101 for sure, so as far as the Discovery I got the the bolts for the back A arms sprayed with PB Blaster and have it jacked up. Oh yeah I got the front push bar grate deals sanded and primed but no real work tonight. Degreased the whole undercarriage since the wife wanted me to clean up the stains on the driveway seemed like the senseable thing to do. 8C14CC4A-9392-4639-B19C-979316B4DE20.jpeg2BD56E1A-5077-42DF-AE98-187DCE6F62CB.jpegD94E5B9A-ED67-413E-B415-B493BC338C2D.jpeg

Well the rear ball joint and last two bushings beat me this weekend, I couldn’t get it frame high enough to get to the castle. So I did what my wife would do, I said to hell with this and I went shopping (for tools) easy y’all. and I might have mentioned my oil keepscoming out more brown that it should be after 1000 miles, so I changed it and the diffs, I think the rear breather is clogged. I am getting close to this this beautiful hateful machine running right so next step is the springs, I had expensive KYB shocks put on it right when I got it but the damn thing leans 1 3/4 inches on the passenger side. I Am still having issues with the radio not taking the code. So I might forgo springs til I know why? I will start taking the jump seats and rear A/C and all that pertains out of “the black one” and start putting into into “the green one”. I’m taking a break getting depressed.

Re-energized and it didn’t take much! While pulling the jump seats out of the black one I grabbed the blue plug wires so check the resistance in them and the ones on my green one. The new ones I had on til last night were garbage, Accel brand I think, 8 mm high temp whatever. Everyone says you gotta use 8 mm and you can only use Kings something and magnacore maybe but these blue STI maybe 8mm maybe 2 I don’t give a damn they made a huge difference for the better, starts better idles and runs better. New energy flowing now for sure, as wife reads and rolls her eyes. I think I proved how much I enjoy working on this when I didn’t watch the super bowl to swap out USED plug wires. She didn’t know I OHM’ed them before and knew they were better. Oh and the dang radio juaybdecided to stop being an a**hole and just took the code last night. Boom radio and runs better.

It’s always great to get a few wins under yer belt:).

And there’s nothing wrong with a bit of retail therapy for spanner’s and shiny metal tools, to help get over the problems.

So true, but none of the shiny tools helped me with the castle nut on the rear ball joint. I’m about to get real redneck with the welder and make something to get that dude off. That last part sounds different than I mean it.

Can’t wait for the pics of getting redneck:):):) and trust me I understand that term:eek:

Good luck

As I sat at work thinking about my car like most 16 year olds, oh wait I’m a grown up. Anyway sitting at work I was wondering how I could not just get that castle nut off the rear ball joint I had this feeling of anger come over me, and as I avoided all work and most people I realized I can mangle that m*¥£#r F^%{£€r all to hell. Also I realized I should remove all these pieces off the black one press out bushings and ball joint, clean them up, paint them and if I tear up a part during the learning process I have another pone on the green one. Boom that’s the plan so I go home after work tell the wife I have to go to my parents to check on them (which I did for 15 minutes then right to the black one to get to grinding and drilling. 767CB8B0-C32F-403D-A1AC-E88AB443247D.jpegF1317EB8-A844-47DE-9CD1-C2521AB33144.jpeg

There you go, bet you feel better now:)

Now to get that ball joint out:eek:
I am pretty sure it is also a tight/taper? fit in the housing, have a look around on here cos I think you have to cut the tabs off the sides (where the small bolts are) to get it in a press. Not familiar with the disco.

J

Yes sir. Leaving work now, can’t wait to get home and get to it. If I hurry I can get it to the shop and it pressed out. We will see

Lucky for that ball joint I had it soaking in PB Blaster overnight and today. I only had to get all 20 tons the press had and got it with a 3 lb hammer and boooom. So that took less time than It took me to change my drawers! Now all getting it cleaned up and after the A arm end bushings get done if they don’t kill me( or the neighbors or my wife the air compressor is freakin screaming right now while I have the body saw and chisel going wide ass open. I saw this somewhere I’m sure I’m not smart enough to think about cutting the end of the chisel so it pushes the bushings out. I did however make the rednecks best friend “only friend” the extra set of hands. Take a peak. I wrote that 20 minutes ago, everything up til I thought of the hole saw was about 3 hours and 50 miles driving to the shop, then twenty minutes, my hitch vise(that’s a funny story) and a craftsman flathead screwdriver(no more warranty cause people use them for other than it’s intended purposes who?) and my favorite little hammer I overpaid for and the first night left it in the bed of my truck and it rained so the leather handle unwrapped and that’s a funny one anyways use the 1 3/8 hole saw and then tap the rest out. And if you break your vise, weld it back together and weld it to about a 6 inch drop tailed hitch and put it in upside down less your real damn short then the other way is cool. Sorry if it sucked it’s really for me to keep track of all the time and money I wasted remember. You

Thanks Knupke. Last night as a Fog Light that needed replaced. It’s always something my wife says but I always say at least we have about 50 % of the needed parts already I’m the garage and I showed here how much a LR mechanic charges and she quieted down a touch. Love it

And all the ice has made for a challenging drive, until you get to main roads. Kids have been out of school for 3 days this week and 4 days last week due to this fookin freezing vortex
