Just off a stuffy feckin bus to find I've got a puncture. No breaker bar! Sitting in the rain waiting for wifey to bring the tools. Serves me right for not putting it all back. Could be worse place but luckily in a car park. ☹ Friday night eh.

Very. Often a wire brush and red oxide round inside the wheel will stop the problem dead.
Spot on that's what the tyre depot did. It also had that done last year when I changed tyres but as said..old steel wheels.

One of my tractor fronts went down three times last winter. Bit of a bore taking off a 48" diameter lug tyre wheel in the mud, and taking it to the tyre place. On the third trip, I insisted they take it right off, and took the wheel back home for painting. No issues since.
As far as landies go, a Britpart rim is about 40 quid. I got a set a few years ago, very good, no punctures since.

In case anyone doesn't know - the rust flakes problem is even worse if you have stickers inside the tyre. They hold the rust in one place when their edges start to lift.
I've just had a set of five blasted, and then I primed them with Zinga which should be good for a long time. Then managed to buy a set of four 'new take off tubeless' for £99 from Hobson's.
