Are Puma seats better than TD5 ones?

Andersons are easy to fit and if youre doing that I would suggest Corbeau RRS seats. Had them in my Defenders for the past 4ish years, still in good condition.

Driven 8 - 10 hours in them, with a few breaks! No real discomfort or pain to speak of. Overall very comfortable! That said they do need a little wearing in

I do not know why people do not like the standard factory seats. As long as they are in good condition the original seat design is very good and for me at least very comfortable. I have a fabric set out of a td5 which I replaced the seat back foam in and I have no complaints. Can happily drive long distance with no aches and pains, did 1500 miles in two days twice to get to and from Morocco last year and they were fine.

Rather than replacing them with something different which compromises access it is well worth looking into replacing the seat foam and even the cover, both of which are easy to do yourself.

I had basically brand new, as in "rebuilt" from Exmoor and after about an hour my back hurt and my ass was numb. Not at all comfortable hence buying the Corbeaus

Land Rover seats are the most comfortable I've ever sat in, like the others have said even after 2 week trips away and several thousand miles I've never been uncomfortable ! Perhaps it's a build/height thing ? I'm 5'8'', broadly built, short legged and long body and I've used Mud rails for the last 10 years.
A winning combination for driving a 90 if nothing else

Think outside the box like I did. Got a full set of seats out of an L322 (Td6 era) for £140, all electrics working and heated with screens in the headrest. Also get proper arm rests by doing these.

If you're a larger chap you may not fit under the steering wheel. Short and may not reach the pedals. Tall and might find the too high. But if you're 5'10 and slightly overweight like me you'll be fine and find them superb

Did the bases take much modification to fit?

I've got techno trimmed standard seats in my td5 and they're destroying my back on longer journeys. Also would like a proper rear seat for the kids rather than the bench.

I've been looking at puma seats but they're massively expensive for what they are. Loads of options for front seats but seems a bit limited choice for rear

Think I'll go similar route but as said, rear bench replacement is probably more of an issue.

I'd love to put disco 2 seats in, fronts wouldn't take much I gather but don't know about rears

Been reading this https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/defender-2nd-row-renault-scenic-seats-fitting.277038/ and other threads like it and pondering the scenic seats for the rear with a decent seat cover 9ver them. Be much better for the kids especially as they get older.

BUT

In one if the pics in linked thread, he's got one of the seats attached to the frame, folded forward so you can see the underneath. His original seat frames are tubular but square and 'flat.

So the scenic seat wouldn't sit level

I'm going to look at a set at a scrappy tomorrow, that's why I've stripped the 1 seat down to test fit but I can't see it being ok. What are people's thoughts on heating the bends and bringing it straight? It wouldn't foul on the rear arch as far as I can see

or box section the other side to bring it level but middle seat would sit low and I'd lose more headroom on the outer 2.

Any thoughts or ideas, or anyone converted rear double cab seats with something different appreciated

The seat bases? No, just removal of one motor and bracket to drop the front to a more pleasant level. Trimmed the runners a little with the grinder but I'm not sure if that's needed in hindsight. Note they won't fit in anything other than a station wagon (possibly double cab). The bulkhead can't be there and they go back quite a long way.

In terms of seat box mods it was relocating the mounting holes and putting in a feed for the motors.

Rear seats I had to build a custom frame for them. Had one tall person in yesterday on the way back from Kyle and he commented on how comfortable they were and how much leg room there was. My father in the back was also very surprised at how comfortable the tears were and given the height how much visibility there was.

Tried the wife's bmw 1 series seats in the front last night, i think theyre too high for me so l322 prob will be as well
