They've phoned me three times today. Insurance isn't due till beginning of next month and they'll probbably not get my money anyway, they can never touch my quotes, even with the "discount" applied.

No where near, but I use a specialist.

Maybe thats because you are a whippersnapper, or maybe its because I am getitng old:(

90 and s2 both valued at 6k each, full comp european breakdown cover 250 quid the pair.

For a full listing of ALL mods they have been the best for a few Years. Will wait to see how they are next year.

It does seem people are being contacted earlier for insurances and stuff. I had a text message from the RAC to state they had renewed my membership. It seem they sent me a letter 6 weeks ago to confirm this. A little call later and I had increased the length of cover to 15 Months for the same money.

Deffo better than Lancaster that when I said it had a 300Tdi , insisted it must be a 3 ltr engine and having a winch must mean I am a recovery driver....LOL.

Cheers

AF have been crap for years.

Many moons ago, I insured my Monaro with them (5.7 v8, ls1). I was in my mid 20's and it was just under 1k.

Asked them to quote me for my new l322 4.4 tdv8 - over £1k with 8 years no claims (and a total of 14 on other cars).

How did that compare with other insurer? AF on my L322 TDV8 4,4 are not good, But I use them on the 90 as it is specialised. I consider the RR to be a mainstream std motor.

BTW , I do not htink you can take other vehicle NCB into account.

Cheers

They asked about the other vehicles; I guess it's about how good a driver you are or the risk.

Anyway, I got it insured with Admiral.. For less than 1/3rd of what AF wanted.

I had that recently when I had an email saying my RAC cover was about to auto renew with ONLY a £40 increase on last year, despite me saying I would not accept auto renew every time I take anything out.
I kept saying no and they eventually gave me additional cover free, a decrease from the previous year of about £40 and 15 months cover instead of 12.
I always find it pays, when you have the cash to do so, to shop around and be "difficult" when looking at insurance and stuff.
I found out the hard way years ago that auto renewals screw you over in the long term and it is well worth shopping around.

I’m not sure if AF have the clout to be competitive. They are only a middle man after all and don’t actually insure anything. Just sell you an insurance policy from someone else after they have shopped around. Maybe they just don’t get enough business to get the trade discounts. Or have unusually high overheads.

I’ve never used them as they say my post code is uninsurable even though I’ve had several cars at any given time for the last 30 years down ere in dog crap valley
