dont confuse OEM with genuine.
Genuine are overpriced parts, with 80% added on for the landrover badged box.
OEM (Original Eqipment Manufacturer) should be the same as genuine, but at sensible prices, eg timken, delphi, bosch etc.
Pattern should fit, and are copies of OEM, but usually cheap, for a reason.
TBH I find most pattern stuff to be dubius, from slightly ropey/rough around the edges, to plain old it just doesnt fit, not just for LR but for all the vehicles ive had, I try and get OEM wherever possible.
So we have a few levels of part :
Genuine - expect to pay for it
OE - genuine without the box/labels
OEM - should be as good as the real thing, or close to it
Pattern - varies from good replacements to utter junk
Have I missed any ?
Generally if it moves or you rely on it, don't buy britpart. With maybe the exception of suspension springs.
I go for bearmach or allmakes, never britpart.
Therein lies the rub.We fit a lot of britpart, to be honest there not that bad, there are poorer brands out there
Ha ha. DLS have a banner advert for britpartDLS specify "don't worry it isn't britpart" when they give you quotes for work.
