you will want to spend a few more quid ontop of anything you get btw.

35quid for a cheap autodark mask, 50-60 for bottle deposit and 30 for a fill, gloves, decent reel of wire.

assuming you have an angle grinder, wire wheels, etc

btw have a look at Welding - The DIY Guide forums. if you really want cheap, stick is cheapola.. but is a right bugger to master and you'll burn holes in thin stuff.

Sound advice trax! Mines doesn't have good fine adjustment for thin stuff like footwells so can be a struggle

trax, you know where i could get feramax gas?

i don't. but you don't need any of that.

just grab a bottle of argon mix 5% or 15% or just some co2 if you want.

i'm by no means a great welder.. 'good enough' welder for cars.

the most important bit is preparation. to start with, nice tight joints and everything very clean and away you go.

being careful not to set fire or hurt yourself or others ;) (ie keep animals and humans away from staring at the arc)

no problem, i was offered a shot of a decent old welder.. was told that was the stuff to get for it

having a look, it looks just like a normal argon/co2 mix. slightly higher co2 on the 7.

it really doesn't matter too much until you are good and want to muck about :)

alright mate thanks, ill get pics of my attempts when the time comes

had a poke about the pillar bit between the door and wing on either side, worse than i expected.. this is going to be fun...

YRM do a lot of pre-formed parts just incase you didn't know. Always found they fit well and prices not too bad apart from postage costs.

Can save you time bending n shaping bits.

Good luck n mind the pics :)
