Hi guys I'm new to the site. I have a 2000 Freelander with removable hardtop roof. I was wondering if anyone on here might be selling a soft top roof, either local(ish) to Salford/Manchester or someone happy to arrange delivery.

Cheers
Carl

The soft roof would be a great thing to have during the summer. Given their rarity, perhaps someone ought to think about remanufacturing them ;)

I'm going down to a friend of mine in Devon next week, i'm pretty sure he still has one. He did last summer.
I will post back next weekend when i'm back

As much as I hate Facebook, go on the Freelander owners club, you'll need to join, and ask there.
You'll have to dig your way through the 'which tyres should I buy' posts though:confused:

There was one on that place you love so much :Dbut it was about a month ago

Yeah it would be nice to have the roof off for summer, but leaving the hard top at home isn't very practical. I wouldn't want to leave the car anywhere with no roof on, and knowing my luck, it would be pretty much guaranteed to rain if I had no roof with me. It would be great if someone remanufactured them, I'm surprised China hasn't already.

One for Warren at Muddymods perhaps? ;)

If you are still looking I have one off a 2002 TD4 GS. If yours is 2000 then you'll be pre TD4 and I'm not sure if that's significant. I don't think it is but it would be wise to check.

I've not had it on the car since last year (because it rains when I put it on so you all have me to thank for this fine weather we've been having!!) but from memory all is good other than one of the zips for the side panels doesn't work and a couple of the press studs don't press stud anymore. Velcro holds the side panels in fine though.

It's complete as in I have the roof, the two side panels, the rear pillar bits, the two tidy sections for when the roof is open, the bag it all goes in and also the red key.

I was going to put it on e-bay later this week but I need to dig it out first as its stored somewhere at the office.

Let me know if you are interested.

I hadn't really thought about it TBH. They seem to go for ridiculous money on ebay/ gumtree but I've no intention of taking advantage like some of those sellers seem to be doing.

I've found it on one of the high racks in the warehouse so I'll get it down tomorrow and put some photos up (it might need to be a one drive link if I can't figure out how to post them into the forum).

I can't figure out how to post them into the forum).

Easy posting pics on here. Click "Upload a File" button and then select the picture you want to upload. It's easy and quick to do, if you're internet connection is fast. :)

Here you go.

One of the zips that zips the side section to the roof section is broken...not the actual zip but the rigid bit you push into the zipper bit when doing a zip up.

I have the red key as well but it's in the car.

If you look closely at the bag then you can just about see two small holes in it but other than one of the zips and these holes everything else is sound. I did think one or more of the poppers didn't pop but they all look fine to me so probably just me not adjusting it correctly when fitted.

let me know if you want different pics

Fritz

I've seen soft tops go on eBay for over £400 in the past-but recently around £200 seems average.
Of course you could buy a rain cover much cheaper-like this one-because of the weather I've had it on for over a month now

Looks complicated! Lol

It takes about 10 mins to put on initially, then another 5 mins or so to adjust for your specific vehicle but you need only adjust the first time its fitted.

Once fitted it's about 3 mins to put up/ take down.

The instructions say you have to remove the roof bars to fit it but you don't. With some careful manoeuvring there is just enough clearance to remove the hard top with the roof bars in place. Defo a two person job to get the hard top off though.
