"This summer the Rotary Club, Elgin are running another "MotorFun" event in Elgin's Cooper Park over the weekend of 6/7 June. Some of you who live locally might be aware of the format, which invites enthusiasts to bring their cherished vehicles for the public to admire as part of a general programme of entertainment.
This year we hope to do something to open the event to motoring enthusiasts of all colours. The popular "Show and Shine" event for cars of all classes will still run, but we'd like to also have, amongst other things, a show of "Adventure, Customised and Converted" (ACC) vehicles. These could be customised campervans / day or weekender type vans, expedition-rigged 4x4s or other Off-Road vehicles, even the odd Quad. As long as it's a bit out of the ordinary, basically, and the owner is prepared to show people over it.
For anyone participating in the ACC show there would be on-site pitch facility available on the Saturday night with a bar, catering and live music, with the main event on Sunday 7 June. Saturday night is still at the planning stage and the pitches will be limited to invitees andthere would be a smallcharge for use of the facilities (showers, loos and water).
The footfall at this event has been in the region of 9000 in previous years, and is the largest event of its kind in NE Scotland and the Highlands. We feel that it offers an ideal opportunity for companies oriented towards Adventure Motoring, travel and the outdoors generally to showcase their products and services.
Since the public have free access to the event, we have to cover the costs by selling space to commercial concerns. The cost of a pitch this year will range from £50 (PR only pitch) to £250 (AutoTrader Stand with vehicles being showcased). We feel that this is a reasonable charge for the exposure the event could offer your business. Please get in touch to discuss your intentions and actual requirements, we aim to offer a fair pitch price to all. We'll be advertising the details on social media very shortly, with regular updates, and also through the 4x4 and overland adventure travel community on-line. This means the event could be included in, say, a North Coast 500 itinerary and attract visitors from farther afield than ever before- we have even had interest from people currently travelling on Round-the-World journeys.
If you feel you may be interested in taking a pitch or just attending with a vehicle, please get in touch with me by e-mail, as above.
Finally, if it's any indication of interest, I showed off my very sandy/dirty/oily Defender campervan (just returned from Morocco) at the last event in 2018 and had to beat off the people who wanted to crawl all over it. The roof tent was especially popular with Small People....and their mums.
