just days away now from getting my 54 plate Freelander 1.8. i have read umpteen articles/posts on the HGF's and can honestly say i'm bricking it somewhat.
i know the HG on this one was replaced at about 28k (now done 57k) as i have seen some receipts. no indication as to what type of HG was put in ( recommended MLS!) Now onto my question.
Rover or landrover must have put in differing HG at different times as the years went on and improved the life expectancy in the process. does anyone know what engine numbers were more suseptable than others or if a certain engine number was factory fitted with the recommended HG at "birth"?
im guessing the earlier ones had the largest proportion of issues on this front but would like some re-assurance.
