yeah eurocarparts, got TRIPLE QX Blue Anti Freeze (con) 5Lt 8.27 delivered with their 31% off promo. they always do promos, keep your eyes open

As above, Euro Car Parts have a fairly good Easter sale on at the moment- free delivery makes it better if you can wait a couple of days.

5L of blue antifreeze, (concentrate, not pre-mixed) is £11.98.
5L of blue antifreeze mixed stuff is £4.79, again delivered free.

I, like you wanted the concentrated stuff, but when I realised the pre-mixed is less than half the price, I went for that. Bought 10 litres of the stuff for topping up purposes. I also have a Halfords Trade card, but their antifreeze is expensive..

It also seems, the modern pink/red/OAT stuff is now not much more expensive than the blue ethylene glycol stuff my old bangers need

but is the premixed 50:50 ratio? Doubt it

yeah, that sounds 50/50 to me. Sounds a good deal! Remember you will still have some stuff in your system, which could weaken the solution.

The only other thing, and i'd love to be corrected, is that antifreeze isn't a great conductor of heat. So some sensitive engines can have issues in the summer if it's too concentrated.

Should never be more than 50/50 some cars are less, i don't know why but to much anti freeze will make your engine over heat but water on its own can make the cylinders over heat.

70/30 is the max iirc, but like you say it can depend on the car and we don't need it in the uk

what manufactures recomend 70/30

Haven't a clue. Doesn't matter does it? If you live in a climate that goes below -36c you need to up the concentration. After 70% it starts to lose it's cooling effectiveness. Btw, that tops out at about -50c.

Same the other way around. If you live in hot countries that don't see -20C, then you should drop the concentration, as water is more effective at transferring heat, but you still want the anti corrosive properties.
