Another rebuild, Td5 90

Well we're not far off now. Bits and bobs left, or it'd be back on the road.
So I got the other seat re-trimmed and fitted, went much easier second time around.
Fitted bench seat in rear and a few other odds and sods.

So now I need to order one last lot of parts.
Main things being a bumper, and a set of door cards.
Bumper was bent to buggery and door cards are cracked.
Would rather buy second hand, so if anyone has anything :p
Oh and the plastic shrouds have broken off the seat belt buckles, had a quick look and they seem to always be supplied with the seat belts, which I don't need.
Sold 2 sets this year too  Unless anyone know a supplier?
Then it's just little bits and bobs, again for the doors mainly as non of the lock buttons/surrounds are brilliant and all cracked/bust.
Pedal rubbers, door thresh seal and retainer and probably other bits but I keep forgetting

Well I've done most of the bits that where left to do today.
Didn't do anything yesterday, well I did, just not for me. Was setting a bulkhead up for someone on here. Nightmare of a job, but an experience.

Ordered a couple of stickers/badges as old ones where removed when painting and looks kinda bare without.
I did order one for the back same design as the wing ones from sp landrover but was sent a bonnet one instead

Finally got some new bolts for the wheel carrier
Which meant I could finally fit the rear door card.

The old door seal was pretty non existent, so bought a new one along with a stainless retainer.
Ridiculous amount of crud and crap built up under the old one.

Interior looks tidier with seat having re-trimmed and new cubby box.
Fitted passenger door card with new fittings.
But still need to find a drivers one as old one is f*cked. Not to forget a seat belt buckle.

And fitted a new bumper and end caps.
I umm'ed and ah'ed for ages about whether to get a galv bumper or a black one.
In the end I decided to get galv and if it looks **** I can always paint it and still have a galv bumper.
So kind off win win. If a little more work if it want's painting.
Still not sure what I think. And he (brother) isn't interested in the slightest

I've still got to paint the roof and put the head lining in too.
But I'm thinking the roof can wait until it warms up a bit.
Door card can be fitted as and when we find one.
And needs a bloody good clean.
Anyway, what the chuff am I going to do now, another project? :behindsofa: Surely not  :monitor_punch:

That looks great, good job :D

I like the galv bumper with the end caps on. I'm not normally a fan of galv which is why I painted my chassis, but I like that.

Cheers James :)
I must admit it has grown on me looking back at pictures.
Still not 100%, but think that maybe because the galv is 'very' shiny at the mo.
Should die down in time though.

looking good aaron, next project????????? get the stuff together for galving lol

Good point :D I found a few bits and bobs when sorting the shed out the other week. Only odd brackets and stuff.
Just need to take bulkhead for shot blasting first, which is the main thing.
Couple of weeks yet. Need to have a big sort out as theirs still ****'e all over and don't know where anything is
Although I do still want another complete project

We Awesome, Aaron. That's a good name for you :D
:clap2: :clap2:
Well done, mate.
I decided to put mine on hold until it warms up a bit. Working on the drive all wrapped up is a hell of a lot colder than going drinking in your T shirt. Don't know how that works up here

Another cracking rebuild
If your brother is not interested sell it on to someone that will love it

plus will free up some cash so you can do another one :banana:

That is an absolutely cracking rebuild! Very impressed with it! Would love to have something like this haha!

Not a patch on your rebuild though  I think my budgets are slightly smaller than yours

I don't blame you at all. I just wanted this out the way so I can do some other bits before I get another project when the weather warms up
Going out drinking in a T shirt is a thing of the past for me. Can't even remember the last time I went out was.
Can't say I miss it mind.

Cheers bud, another is definitely on the cards :D Provided I can find something cheap that is.
Money is at a premium at the mo, so it has to be reasonably priced. And I need to finish the other 90 as much as I can't be arsed because I've fell out with it.

Thanks dude. You could own your very own like this, for more reasonable money than you may think.
Start a rebuild and steady away and buy stuff as and when you can afford it. And while rebuilds can get ridiculously expensive, I think that's when you start buying loads of goodies, like snorkles/swing away wheel carriers, LED lights etc. etc.... I'm sure you get the gist.
But as nice as they are they could put half of the budget on top of the original easily, if not double.
I like standard with just a few little touches here and their.
My budgets aren't massive and wouldn't allow for stuff like that. They can come at a later date as and when it can be afforded.

What colour is the roof going to be?

I'm thinking white the same as the body at the mo.
Someone said black to me. But think it may be to much.

Both would work well. I can't photoshop, but the black looks nice here.

You really should do this for a living. Get your arse to a farmers country/agriculture supplies, where they buy animal feeds and stuff. Most of their customers probably own a land rover. You can thrust your cards in their hands offering servicing/repairs and restoration. Or maybe barns finds for other projects.

Shame about the wheels. And the wings. And the grill.

Don't know where the we came from.
Meant to say Awesome Aaron Still think that's a good name for you. :D

The T shirt thing, is that we are supposed be be known up here for being out in our shirt sleeves in all weathers. To be honest, It's probably mostly the women drinking in Newcastle that have gained us that reputation

I can't photoshop either. I'm thinking white is the safe option.

+1

Yep. It was purely for the contrast for the roof and body.;)

Aye. That's a better example. Difference is that's a nice shiny new 'en, and well this isn't that
I still think white is winning. I don't know. We'll see come summer time.

Aye, well I didn't want to say too much, as much as it did cross my mind :p :monitor_punch:
Can't say I noticed last time I went for a night out in Newcastle  :p

With white being the dominant colour, I think you need to be cautious with the amount of black. The example with the black roof, bonnet, wheels etc is too much.
I would go white roof. Black light bar or similar on top, perhaps some tasteful, smallish black sticker on door or van side to compliment TD5 stickers.

I agree mate, im looking at getting one as a graduation present to myself. Where i will be living is within train distance to my proposed offices so only need a car for purely pleasure purposes. Got access to other cars if i desperately needed to take clients etx out so this would purely be for me to enjoy!

My current car would have half decent resale value for me to pick up a relatively decent 90 and spend a little money on making it my own!

To be fair white has been what has been in my mind since day one.
It was only others suggesting black that made me think about it, and I still think black would be too much. So white it is.
How far on are you with you build anyway mate?

Good luck in finding what you want. I love working on mine (when things are going right ) or others for that mater.
Currently trying to decide what I want to build next. Not sure what though. Would love to do a 130 dcpu but nowhere to do it.

I think the white is a good way to go! It looks amazing at the moment - it'd be a shame to alter it too much. As you said you don't want something all toyed up!

I love working on my girlfriends dads 110 which is how i properly got in to cars/landrovers!

Excuse my naivety but what is a dcpu?
