Another mistery coolant leak

Another input...today I checked the oil's level with the cold motor and the level and the color is ok, but the creamy/grease/mayonese thing still remains in the fill cap.
Thanks
Mauricio

I'm afraid the most likely cause is HGF. Condensation in the oil filler due to running the engine too cold wouldn't explain the loss of 1ltr of coolant/week. Sorry..:(

Very bad luck, am sorry for you.
If you have recently purchased the vehicle, take it back for a refund. Or if they will only fix it for you, let them do it then sell it.
If you still want a freelander get a diesel, they don't suffer like the petrols.

Tomorrow I will take she to a LR garage and I will get their opinion. She has only 30.000 Km (18.500 miles). Hard to belive that a LR engine has a short life time like that.

For the last 12 years I only drove Jeeps Wrangler. I had 4 of them (I still own one 1998 model). Those jeeps never let me in trouble. I sell one with more than 250.000 Km without open the engine. Only normal maintance like fuel pump, water pump, sparks, belt e etc.

Thanks

V6 common problem is inlet manifold gasket and can easily lose 1 ltr weekly without any further probs as long as you keep topping up...water goes out of exhaust as steam....looses more on short runs and very little on long runs...

A very small amount of emulsion in filler cap can be expected in most motors but if its a lot and reappears aftr you wipe it out then would suspect HGF

Hope that helps

Only to update this thread.

My freelander is in a LR garage located near my city since may 13. They are trying to locate where water is leaking without sucess. First they said that was the oil cooler (near the passenger front wheel), but they changed the cooler and the oil and the water still leaking and there was a little water in new oil again.

They finaly told me that maybe HGF, but they have to open the engine's head to confirm. I'm still not beliving in HGF. The motor is with only 20.000 miles and it is running strong and sounds good. Next week they will open it and I will told you what is happening inside it.

I contacted Land Rover's Brazilian office and told them about my Freelander. They told me that they will try to help me because the car left the warranty period only two and half months ago and it has a very low milage. I don't know if they will really help me with all the fix's cost, but I'm waiting a answer from them.

Thanks

Mauricio
