ok guys so i have been refunded for my new maf off of ebay because there out of stock according to the seller but anyway after a good rummage today in the scrappy i got my hands on 2 maf's same part numbers etc. tried them both still no change at all no power under 2000rpm. i know its possible that the 2 maf's i picked could be u/s. could i be thinking its the maf and its not ? i need to know if you disconnect a working maf and reattach it when the engine is running is there any change in engine noise or the running of the engine when connected back up ?

this is really starting to test me now i feel the box of matches coming out soon :)

also is the mil ment to come on when the maf is unplugged ? because it dont on my freelander

No experience with a disconnected maf myself but what I can make out of what I've red in other posts I think you can only feel a difference when driving the car, disconnect and reconnect will not give any difference on tickover in my opinion. Not like a petrol engine when you disconnect one sparklead. Also don't think disconnecting the maf causes a dashlight to come on. As said no personal experience but others will probably soon give better answers. Good luck.

cheers for your reply mate ive driving it a good 30+ miles with out the maf connected and cant see no change. i know if you unplug the maf on a petrol engine when its running it would be apparent. am stumped with this one

All your ecu will do is set itself to a default value which will flag no mil lamp but get you where you need to go..... how many pins does your maf sensor plug have on it???

Rule of thumb. . . . .if engine running with loss of power or suspect maf , then dissconect maf and if improvement is noticed ,then maf is suspect, note rule of thumb as the maf is a big subject a lot has been written about it in this forum so go to search or try rover rons web site that really usefull . . . . . .
