Changed the battery on the car P38 2.5 DHSE. now the fob does not work, the key opens the door swiches the ignition on but says it is immoblised. If I lock the car and then unlock it with the key the door opens but the alarm sounds. I have found a security number on my Lynx diagnostics. Is this the eka code I need to reprogram the fob

If BECM is locked EKA cannot be read. Security number is likely to be EMS number. If that had been lost the engine would turn but not start and there would be no messages on dash. Had the battery gone flat on the car? There is a way to disconnect the battery, if not done properly the car thinks it is being stolen and will give you what you have.

It is a car I bought to use as a spare. Everything worked fine until the battery went completly flat as it was on its way out. So I bought a new battery and now have the problems i have discribed. What can I do now.

To top it all the dvla have been out and clamped the car as it is not taxed. I have been waiting weeks for them to send me the logbook so I could tax the car as I have to have a number off it, I tried to sorn it but again they would not until I give them the number off the logbook that THEY have. I phoned them and they said that they are sending the logbook on 25 July as it was taking longer as there was no logbook with it. I had paid the garage I bought it from £25 and filled in a form to get it sorted faster.
The arragant litte **** from the DVLA said I had to pay £260 to get the clamp removed. even though they know I cant Tax it until they send the logbook. Best of all the car is on a car park and rear entrance to our houses out side my rear gate which is 100 yards from the road. They have given me fourteen days to tax it or they will come and scrap it. They wont get it now as it is in my back garden under a carport with locked steel gates and I have fitted a cctv camera to catch the little b----------s.
When they came to take off the clamp they sneaked up and it was off before I could get out to them. I caught him tuning round on the car park ,I tried to stop him but he drove off. It would probably have made things worse but I would have felt better if I could have stuck the clamp up his arse. I think I will have to write a story about this other car as it is beyond a joke as to what has been going on with it.

I thought you could still do it all without a V5 at the post office. You just needed to complete a V62. But looking into it maybe that is now wrong.

Cheers

He wants to SORN though, not tax! Given the £25 maybe he already tried the V62?

Fair enough, not the way I read it. As I understand it needs the same info to do either.

Cheers

You can disable immobiliser and EKA code need with Nanocom. Fob cannot be synced until EKA code has been accepted and immobiliser switched off.

If you buy a car from a trader and it is without the v5, do not pay the trader £25 cos they never send it off. I've been caught like this twice and have heard of others who have paid the money but never got the v5. I suspect the traders have the v5 but say they haven't just to get an extra £25.

I paid £25 pounds when I bought the car and filled in a V62 form and I was told this would speed up the logbook.
DVLA told me I cannot tax or sorn without the logbook with the serial number on. I am so peed off now I wish I had not bought it.
I might as well scrap it and use it for spares, which would be a shame as it is such a tidy motor

Yes but I have filled in the form and paid my £25 and I still cannot tax or sorn it. The dvla have said they have got my logbook ready to send to me on the 25 July
They said I had to wait for the logbook. I asked if they could give me the number off the logbook and they refused giving me a load of bull----.
