When I first got the disco a year ago my first job was replacing the front wheel bearings which I did with a mechanic friend of mine. Since then I've been tightening them every month or so on the front but the rear ones are fine. Am I just being stupid and not tightening them up too much? Or should I get a new pair for the front. I've only done 12k since fitted.

I've only tightened them when theyve got loose, trust me I don't want to make extra work for myself. The hubs were smooth and everything went together fine. I ask as one side has become loose again.. So I think I'm just being too gentle with them and they need a bit more tightening?

Annoyingly the 52mm spanner I have is britpart so has no slot for a torque wrench :/

Buy a 52mm 1/2" socket. Much better I don't use a torque wrench on mine just tighten innernut until it nips the hubs and makes it hard to turn then slacken slightly so it turns smoothly. fit washer bend inwards over nut. fit outer nut and tighten fully. then bend washer up over nut. they never come loose then.
