Annoying drip.

Hi everyone,
Have yet another annoying drip from the throttle body heater plate, this will be the 3rd plate that needs changing in the space of a few months. Once I change it all will be well for a couple of months then it begins to drip again, have tried hylomar sealant and also silicon sealant on the gasket but still it drips after a while, thinking of doing the bypass trick now, is it correct that the job of the plate is to stop the throttle body icing up? As it does not get that cold in good old Blighty bypassing the heater plate should have no adverse effects on the running of the rangie? Anyone got any suggestions please.

Same problem here, was gonna try some gasket product too however I think it may also be the pipes leading up to the heater. Maybe consider that?

they distort through heat, I made a new gasket out of thicker gasket paper for my d2 es problem solved & simple job using a little toffee hammer

using excessive amounts of gasket gum will end up in the water system blocking the return which will cause overheating issues.

Yes, noticed you are having same problem, all hoses are new, I replaced the smaller coolant pipes for silicon hoses.

I think what will says is a good idea - thicker gasket material for a start.

Thanks for that idea, I take it the small hammer is to straighten the plate? I will get some gasket paper and give it a try.

I replaced the plate on mine..surely they don't distort that easily?!

I had 2 fail from Island. The gaskets are pretty crap & pretty sure they are britpart. Just bought a genuine LR heater plate so fitting that next week. If that fails i'll bypass.

Did the bypass today, not wasting any more money on those crappy plates, just ran a hose straight from the nipple on the inlet manifold to the header tank, job done . Suppose it's one less place to leak from. V8 purred lovely after with no idle issues.

Annoying drip.
