I fitted a reversing camera. Very useful when lining up trailers to the towbar. I also like the reassurance of being able to monitor the hitch and trailer when driving along.

Things to beware:
  • Chinese RDS works ok, but the receiver can be a bit deaf. AF feature doesn't usually find alternate frequencies correctly, because the Chinese seem to think it mean "find Any Frequency" rather than another transmitter with same national station.
  • It's definitely worth getting the dual antenna combiner so both side antennas are used You might also need adapters for the P38 antenna feeds.
  • Once you start down this route, you will want more features !! Be prepared for the 2nd or 3rd version you will buy !!

Yep fully aware of wanting more and better its the start of a few car upgrades its getting lpg this year and internal rear mounted spare wheel carrier similar to the classic. Removing the sub/cd player will free up some boot space i will keep all the original kit including my walnut centre console should i feel the need to return it to original

I need to get an antenna combiner for mine still..

I fitted a fan to mine, but think I'll probably look at fitting a bigger heatsink aswell when I get around to it. It isn't as glitchy at the moment, but it's still not as stable as my old one. I still think it's mainly down to the USB bus, and power on the USB system, as it seems to mostly have issues when I have the 3G modem plugged in, and more so again when the 3G signal drops.

I swapped my passive crossover system to one of my DSP amp conversion boards, so have P38 amps in the loadspace, and I went with the resistors for attenuators off the amplified feed from the head unit. The sound quality is so much better now - I don't get any buzzing or noise in the speakers either.

The only thing I do get, which I want to try and find a solution for, is what seems to be digital noise from the head unit into the subwoofer. but balancing transformers might help..

A bit behind the curve on this. Do you just buy a box and add your own motherboard, OS + software or is it all bundled as an OEM unit? The pics seems to show just a nano-itx type motherboard with a touchscreen interface or am I missing the big point?

I used these transformers https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/audio-transformers/8513686/
The digital noise from the chinese head unit ends up everywhere, so balancing the feeds into the Harman Kardon amplifiers makes a big difference.

The door speakers seem to be fine with using the attenuator circuits off the amplified output, it's just the subwoofer that is being affected, but then I'm using the subwoofer line level feed for that... so will look at getting a couple for that.

Did you just put one in per channel?

So i managed to buy a scrap centre console from the bay went a bit mad with my 3 inch air grinder but as a first go it will do. When i get a day free i will install it and give it a go if it works as planned then il find a centre console in walnut and get the better unit with rear camera and satnav.

You can get little plastic trims to stick on and make the edge look neat.

As much as I'd love to do this, I know for fact I can only just about remember how to breath some days, I'd probably kill myself trying to install something like this.
