Hi All, can anyone point me in the right direction for a fix on this first problem?
Last weekend I left my 1998 P38 parked with the key in the ignition, when I went to get in the car it was locked, so got spare key from indoors but the fob battery was flat so unlocked the car on the key, initially when I turned the key a message quickly flashed up something about reset code but it was so quick I didn't haver time to read it and the car started no problem. Anyway as there was a problem with locking/unlocking on th fob I reset the emergency key code doing the key turning left and right malarky, with no effect???
The problem is obviously to do with the central locking and maybe the alarm as I'm not sure if that's setting properly although the LED is flashing, unlock with the fob only the two rear doors unlock, turn the key in the drivers side door and the drivers door and tailgate unlock, lock on the key and the drivers door, rear doors and tailgate all lock, nothing happens at all on the passenger front door so you have to lean over and lift the button. I checked all the fuses I can find and unless there are any I don't know about there are none blown, so now I've used up all my meagre electrical knowledge, anyone got a clue what's going on here?

try resyncing the key to the car, put key in lock press lock button and turn to lock with button still pressed do the same with unlock useing the unlock button..

Just tried that, to no avail, thanks for advice though
then its probably with the passenger door check the wiring see if any are broke or have worn thro and are causing a short,if you sit in the car and lock it with the door button then unlock with the passenger door button does it unlock all doors and tailgate if so it whitchcraft and you may need irishrover or datatek they seem to know more about electrikery than me

Hi Nick
I had the same problem twice (see P38 Door Lock saga ). mine turned out to be burned out door lock actuators caused by a faulty R/F reciever. hopefully yours might be something different because mine cost a bit to fix. £300 for door locks and £180 for a receiver. Worse than that I had to buy the locks twice as you'll read in my tale of woe. If you follow the threads back from my post you'll find lots of info from people who know what they're talking about. The locks aren't bad to fit and the receiver is a doddle.
Good luck
Pete

NICK, where in the world are you?
You're going to feel an even bigger plonker if it turns out you've got a Rangie wizard living close by but you're only communicating through here.
Stick your location into your details.
