I've been tinkering with this problem for a while now but feel defeated. I must have missed something obvious.

Late last year I replaced the clutch in my'98 K series FL1. All seemed to go well and the clutch works beautifully now. However, I have the amber HDC warning lamp lit on the dash.

On the initial start-up after the clutch job I had the 3 amigos. A clean and reinstall of the front ABS sensors and minor adjustment sorted out 2 of them. I knew I'd damaged one of the electrical switches the g'box so I replaced both - the 1st gear and reverse switches. I had to use two washers to pack out the reverse light switch otherwise the reverse lights and backing camera remained on all the time. That all seems to work as it should. I checked the wiring below the HDC switch as I'd done a repair there some time ago. I replaced the 'male' plug so it should work as expected.

But no. No HDC function and the warning lamp stays on.

What have I missed?

I'm not sure what the error, engaged and activated lights are - to know what your amber light means.

If it's engaged, have you put a multimeter across the switch terminals to see if its still working OK?

If you replaced both gearbox switches and the reverse needed washers to work correctly, maybe the 1st gear needs that also and is upsetting HDC if showing on all the time ??
It would presumably throw an implausible error code if both 1st and reverse were showing at the same time.

Would manifest itself as soon as you engage reverse - unless its a sticky code and needs clearing.
