Am I being ripped off ?

I have a Freelander TD4 2003
I have just had my Freelander in for a diff bush as the car was making a clunking noise from the back when taking my foot off the accelerator in 1st or 2nd gear. Whilst getting repaired I got a phonecall from the garage to tell me that there were other problems with the car that needed repair

1) Rear diff input seal leaking axcessively
2) Rear propshaft bearings fron and rear starting to split (Rear more than half way spliy, fron just starting)
3) Front shock absorber LHS top bearing needs replacing
4) Rear subframe clicking (needs plate welding to rectify problem)

Quote was £600 plus vat

Apart from the diff bush clunk and a clunk when I drop off a curb (which will be the shock absorber bearing) I haven't felt I have had a problem.
Is this quote a bot excessive or is this the norm and how often do these problems occur.

Also I need brake discs and pads. Is it better to buy main dealer parts or are the Mintex ones just as good ?

2) can be fixxed cheaply with superglue if the split is not too big - else its a noo prop.
4) is most likely subframe attachment - again easy fix - bin covered lots on here - do a search.

Just an update,
Phoned a friend who has a nephew who used to work for Landrover and now runs his own garage. Took my car down to him today along with the fault sheet from the Landrover reapir garage. After inspection he has quoted me £400 including vat to do all the jobs. I asked him to quote me on supply only for brake pads (as I think I am capable of doing those myself) but he said he would supply them for cost and fit them free of charge (£40 for Genuine parts and £20 for cheaper version).
This is £300+ less than the Landrover dealer.

What a rip off

On another note, my car is only 5 years old and has covered 42000 miles. I am the 3rd owner, the last owner only having the car 10 months and covering 4000 miles. Can I expect the parts I am having replaced to last another 5 years or does history suggest more frequent bills coming my way.

What are the feelings on tyre rotation and is it common for the 17" 6 spoke alloys to buckle easily ?

Take care with tyre rotation. Not sure about Td4 but earlier models don,t like it if the worn tyres are on the wrong axle.

Strange you should mention that Boxer as I had a left to right wobble a couple of months ago on the steering wheel which mysteriously disappeared after putting a part worn RHF tyre & wheel onto the RHR Was told my tracking was out but Les Potts (who is the only 4 wheel drive specialist non LandRover dealer I know to be allowed to fully service LandRover vehicles under warranty) that he didn't do 4 wheel drive tracking and didn't know of anyone in the vicinity who did.
I eventually go it done by a repair centre less than 300 yards from Les Potts garage, and who apparently got a lot of cars sent down from Les Potts for MOT's

Hello,
well got my landy back on Sunday after being in the garage 5 days (originally a 2 day job!! but garage were waiting for parts). Anyway car driving great with no clunks, clicks, whurrs or whistles. Got everything done including the front pads for £350 as knocked off £70 for inconvienience. Looks like I may have found a gem of a garage in terms of customer satisfaction which is a rarity these days. Anyone in the Sunderland area wanting a good deal I will gladly pass on the garage name.
Going on a trip to Newquay in 4 weeks so feel a bit more comfortable knowing my propshaft and diff aren't going to fall to bits whilst towing. Fingers crossed.
