Filtering only helps on WVO, the problem with all veggie oil is the glycerides in it. It really needs to be converted to bio diesel, even then care is needed.filter it well you dont know how much it been filtered down to at the factory and whether or not its been sat in a cold area and always best to mix it with diesel
The SVO that I buy is (food grade) rapeseed oil. It is a "soft" oil similar in characteristics to sunflower oil. It does not need to be filtered. Just mix it 50/50% with diesel. Avoid palm oil which gels at low temps and you will be alright. I have examined the fuel filter on mine closely and there is nothing there. Even so as a precaution I change every 6000 miles. Using WVO would be a different matter. You wouldn't know what was in it.
The M51 indirect injection engine and the Bosch FIP is perfectly happy to run on 100% veg oil if it is heated up to lower the viscosity. All this is old hat though. There is a lot of past experience documented on BMW forums.
Other engines and injection pumps do give problems on veg oil, particularly modern direct injection engines and also Lucas and CAV pumps. That is when biodiesel must be used. It can be used but is not essential for the p38.
will the 1995 range rover 2.5 diesel run on veg oil mix
