MMMM came hope tonight and slowly all my dash board lights came on one by one, abs , traction etc all started to illuminate (all the yellow warnings) .Pulled over straight away could not find anything obvious at roadside, so went to start engine and baterry was totally flat. My mate jump started me and i drove all the way home 40 mins with lights on. And once again when i stopped only just started again. Checked the alternator output on sunday morning and found that on tickover only had 13v even with all the heavey electrical stuff on. When i reved it to more than 3000 rpm got about 13.8v but as soon as you returned to tickover, nothing over 13v. cleaned the alternator up and just about to refit , but i was such a nightmare to remove just thought it might be best to buy new one as i dont wanna be fitting them twice lol. Has anyone experianced similar and does is sound like alternator.

i'm confused...did u mean off?? ...cos with all the electrical stuff on 13V is normal

13volts with engine running, most and all my other motors pump out about 14.2v on start up, so thats why i am thinking it my be alternator.

in the morning when i start it mine goes up to 14.7 but when i push the heated seat drops to 13.4 and when i turn on the lights to 12.6 on idle... never had an issue with that

Just an update on this changed the diod pack in alternator and all is good now, charging at 14.2v on start up. So i guess allthough it was charging it was'nt charging enough to sustain use.

that might also explane the w/lights coming on, with a faulty diode pack AC voltage could be getting into the system, and confusing the ECU's and sensor's, as they only like DC voltage.
