I’m considering adding Alpine windows to my 200tdi van as the roof is off as I work through a restoration, this might be a good opportunity to do the work at a useful work height.

SP Panels are selling a kit that looks good and well priced.

I know I’m adding more opportunities for water leaks but, my question is are the alpine windows central, (back to front) of the rear section of roof? And, what is the distance from the inside of the gutter to the bottom of the seal or aperture for the window?

all feedback welcomed.

Honestly I wouldn't bother. Just another place to let water in and I don't think the improve the light
