I can't wait to camp out the back of Drover. Sarah has already decreed that girlies are in the 'warm' of the landy overnight but little does she know how comfy I can make a bit of grass!!

Be fab to be able to proper lane Drover rather than the lanes I use locally as they've become routes home from work 2 days a week as its often quicker even at under 12mph than 'going round'!!

Toilets/shower wasn't used by group b20wnx as we were in caravan, even if we didn't have the comfort the only thing we would require is a few porta loo,s - I don't think anyone is expecting luxury and after all brushing teeth and washing in cold water whilst chatting with other campers is all about.
I think more people will attend this year but having no idea of the last event cash flow couldn't comment on what prices should be IMHO it was really cheap last year (even for someone on tight budget) so a price increase would not be out of order

We just ****ed behind the tent (with the rampaging cattle) & got washed in the standpipe between us, RachaelS and who-ja-ma-flip with his v8 d2… :)

I know quite a few lanes around the leicestershire area if I can be of any assistance. Was my old stomping ground for enduro riding :)

can you not hit up the site sponsors and other retailers to pay and give a few prizes for a raffle?

offer sponsorship packages.
  • 4 weeks upto the event, show a rotating banner on certain pages about lz11 and rotate sponsors.
  • give them a table/banners at the meet.
  • recognition in emails and other marketing including two mass emails telling everyone of the event.
  • few free tickets
  • company name and logo on an event t-shirt
  • flier handout pack

you'll be able to add other little bits and bobs to make it appealing to marketing and charge them a few k.

basically the usual conference sponsorship packages.

the forum is a valuable resource you could use for a few weeks.

I understood the whole of the first line :eek:

Roy added a banner rotating with the ads for this years event in the weeks leading up to it and the e-flyer that went everywhere we could think of had the sponsors on and all were invited to attend but we only had any real support (or even feedback iirc) from AF.

I'm no expert by a long shot but it appears the forum is a much greater resource than a gathering and most sponsors are content to just have their name on a section and remain passive.

I guess visibility on the forum is the big prize so we can look at how that might be done.

Thanks for positive ideas :)

definitely atm the forum is the resource they want to pimp their gear on.

if the meet grows to a few hundred then i think they would also be wanting to advertise at the event.

i'll give you some examples of what i mean. i'm a software dev, so this is from my industry.

Scottish Ruby Conference 2014: Sponsor us

http://www.railsconf.com/railsconf-2014-prospectus-v1.pdf

it basically boils down to us having an targetted audience of X users on lz.

i'd expect a lot are diyers, so companies targetting the diy mechanics.

obv landrover enthusiasts, so the usual site sponsors.

4x4 tyre companies, etc

if you offer them a package that offers good roi (or to start a potential roi higher than their existing marketing channels) and they have budget, then they should be happy to sponsor as you've made their job easy.

we must have a few marketing winkers on here who have done this before and can help out? :D

i'd lend a hand if you want, but i've not organised an event like this before.. but i know people who have, so maybe i could get some advice if you decide to give this route a try

Well I certainly hope to be there as
a) I should be the other side of my six month driving ban (medically imposed, not criminally)
b) I should be on the home stretch of my current intense chemotherapy regime

BUT c) it might clash with a forthcoming sigmoid section (once failed)

So I'll keep my powder dry, and hope to see you all there.

Wishing you the best of luck with all that. :)
